James Lee
General Manager, Startups and AI Businesses, Google Cloud
James Lee is general manager of the startups and AI businesses at Google Cloud. He is responsible for building Google Cloud’s business with startups, the investment ecosystem, and generative AI companies. Previously, James led Google Cloud’s global strategic initiatives team for the Americas region. In this role, he drove One Google partnerships, strategic investments, and key growth initiatives. With over 20 years of experience in the technology sector, James has worked across product, sales, and operations in North America, Europe, and Asia.
Before joining Google, James spent 12 years at SAP, most recently as Chief Operating Officer for SAP Ariba and Fieldglass. In this role, he had operational oversight across the end-to-end business, including strategy and investment, solution GTM, business operations, data analytics, and talent development. Before then, he was Chief Operating Officer and general manager of sales for SAP Greater China.
James holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia, and a Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is a recipient of the 2019 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award.
