John DeMoully is the AI Engineering Lead at CapitalG, where he drives AI transformation across the firm’s internal operations and partners with portfolio companies to accelerate their technical capabilities. A hands-on builder, John specializes in modernizing operational workflows and turning complex technical breakthroughs into practical solutions.
I focus on embedding AI directly into how CapitalG operates—from deal sourcing and diligence for our investment team to modernizing workflows across our finance and operations teams. Beyond our internal systems, I work side-by-side with our portfolio companies, helping leadership teams navigate technical roadblocks and bring practical AI solutions into their core operations and business processes.
I’m drawn to this work because I love taking cutting-edge technology out of the abstract and making it practically useful for fast-growing businesses. Prior to CapitalG, I worked in Forward Deployed Engineering at Palantir, where I served as a Technical Lead guiding large-scale enterprise transformations and deploying AI solutions across complex, mission-critical environments in defense, telecommunications, supply chain, and manufacturing.
I studied computer science at Cornell University’s College of Engineering. When I’m not building or tinkering with new tech, you can usually find me outdoors, on a bike ride, or exploring the trails around the Bay.
